This exotic vintage tribal textile is a baby carrying cloth made by the Hmong people of Yen Bai in the northwest mountains of Vietnam. It’s a particularly impressive piece with an abundance of well executed embroidery work in complementary colors and long appliquéd straps. The border is made of velvet cloth. Hmong mothers devote their finest skills to making these cloths for their babies. Over the decades, the once bright colors have faded, creating a lovely vintage look.

This Hmong textile is about 50 years old. Minor fraying at the edges, worn patches, and general fading is present, all adding to the character of the piece. These old Hmong textiles are visually make rich wall adornments.
