Vintage Katu Tribal Textile TTL16


This vintage tribal textile was made by the Katu (also written Co Tu) ethnic minority living in Quảng Nam, central Vietnam. The Katu are also established eastern in Laos. It is distinguished by the fine white bead work against a black backing; woven on a backstrap loom in keeping with tradition.

Availability: In stock

The Katu are skilled weavers and cotton growers and their striking textiles are well regarded in the region. Older pieces are hard to come by and this is a lovely example. It is about 50 years old and in good condition.
