Vintage Silk Textile Vietnam STL29

From Northern Vietnam, this woven vintage silk and cotton panel once adorned the bottom of a traditional tube skirt known as seen ko, worn by the women of North Vietnam. The tradition of weaving such adornments for skirts is centuries old; the tradition passed from mother to daughter. All stitching is done by hand.

This vintage textile was made the Tai-Lu minority people using hand spun, hand woven cotton, embroidered with an ancient motif in silk. The textile is 30-40 years old and consequently there are some loose threads, a small hole and fading but the overall condition is very good. These vintage textiles lend themselves well for use as table runners or could be framed.
