Traditional Laotian Silk Wall Hanging STL12


From the famous silk weavers of Laos, this beautiful silk textile is adorned with a complex supplementary weft weave, focusing on the diamond motif, symbolizing an eye, said to ward off evil spirits. A master weaver worked on this piece for several weeks, her considerable talents evident in the consistency and precision of the weave. The silk ends in long braided silk tassels.

Sam Neua, in the remote northern province of Houaphan, is the original home of silk weaving in Laos. Sam Neua weavers are renowned for their mastery and creativity, taking silk weaving to a level where it is considered an art form.
