Unlike its neighboring countries, antique lacquerware is seldom seen in Cambodia. This container was made from woven bamboo and jackfruit wood that has been applied with several layers of lacquer. It has been decorated with a simple scrolling design.

Lacquerware boxes in this style were used to hold all the necessary tools, spices, betel nut, tobacco, and leaves etc. to make a quid for chewing. This is a particularly handsome example of its kind and is in good condition without repairs.
