This opium weight in the form of a mythical beast or lion like creature is one of just a few forms of Lao / Siamese weights that are not taken from the Chinese zodiac. It is very distinct from the beast weights of Burma. The bronze and casting are of a high quality. A star sign is depressed in the front right side and is typical of the larger Lao / Siamese weights.
