Khmer Ceremonial Offering Vessel EUO93

From Prey Veng, this 19th century mahogany vessel was traditionally used in Buddhist ceremonies as well as the National Ancestor Ceremony. In the center of the vessel, a special preparation of rice was placed, and outside, flowers and incense were arranged in a series of small openings with a candle placed atop.

We made up a traditional arrangement as seen in the photo provided. It is an interesting relic from Cambodia’s past and remains fully functional.
