Burmese Nat Spirit Wood Carving EUO63

Carved from hardwood, this antique wood carving is from Rangoon and is the head of what was once a full statue of a female spirit referred to as a Nat in Burma. The head has been mounted on a stand for display.

Nats are spirits worshipped in Burma (Myanmar) in combination with Buddhism. They are divided between the 37 Great Nats and a host of other ‘minor nats’.
