19thC Horn Handle Rice Harvesting Tool

$225.00

From Chiang Mai, this antique rice harvesting tool is rather special, possessing a cow horn handle and an intact blade. Normally these harvesting knives have wooden handles and are in use until the blade eventually breaks. It is very uncommon to find one with the tip of the blade intact.

This old rice harvesting tool has been lovingly crafted and is a wonderful symbol of Southeast Asia where rice is a staple food, provides a living for millions, and is regarded with an almost spiritual reverence. It has been mounted on a painted wooden stand for display.
