Antique Bronze Elephant Bell Yunnan EBB55

From Yunnan, Southern China, this spherical antique elephant bell is a rare find, much coveted by collectors. Elephants have been an integral part of life for the indigenous peoples of Southern China for thousands of years and there is still a small population of elephants in Yunnan today. This well worn bell would have hung from the neck of a young elephant and bears the face of a protective spirit thought to ward off misfortune.
