Asian Art – Etching – Enlightenment AEV05


This etching, entitled ‘Enlightenment’, was created by Thai artist, Vorakorn Metmanorom. The etching shows two people meditating under a Bodhi tree, just as Siddhartha Gautama, the Buddha, did over 2500 years ago when he became enlightened. It is A.P 12/90. This etching is framed in cream card. The third photo in the series shows an example of this etching framed in teak and glass (not included).

Vorakorn was born in 1968 and graduated from the College of Fine Art in 1988 and the Faculty of Painting, Sculpture and Graphic Art, Silpakorn University, Bangkok in 1994. He now works from his studio in Chiang Mai and has exhibited his work in Thailand, Japan, Norway, Taiwan, U.S.A, The Netherlands, Poland, and Germany. His work is influenced by Buddhist teachings, nature, as well as his Chinese ancestry.
