Hmong Silver Hairpin ETJ164

$295.00

This tribal antique silver hairpin from Laos was made by the Hmong, a hill tribe people known for their love of silver and in the past, the cultivation of opium poppies in their mountain home. Laos, along with Burma and Thailand made up the infamous Golden Triangle. It is elegantly fashioned from solid high content silver and is in excellent condition.

Availability: In stock

The Hmong can no longer rely on the cultivation of opium poppies to finance their love of silver and ornamentation and we’ve been told that skilled Hmong silversmiths are a thing of the past, with the vast majority of antique Hmong silver has already been traded for cash in the cities.
